The biggest Total War map is about to stop being a trilogy homework assignment. PC Gamer reports that from September you will not need to own any of the three Total War: Warhammer games to play Immortal Empires, the colossal combined campaign that stitches the whole setting together. For years that mode was the reward for buying the set. New players had to decode a store page that looked like a law degree.
Making Immortal Empires stand on its own is Creative Assembly admitting the real product is the mega-campaign, not the 2016–2022 boxed path. It also sets up the Lords of the End Times content landing in Warhammer 3 on September 24. Combined, September becomes the cleanest on-ramp the series has had since launch: one purchase, one map, the late-story lords on the calendar.
Veterans who already own the trilogy are not the target. The target is everyone who wanted “the big Warhammer Total War” and bounced off DLC matrices. Watch the September store listing for what the standalone SKU includes — base factions versus old paid lords. Until that page is live, the news is the policy change: the mega-campaign is no longer locked behind three boxes.
