Apple is changing how iPhone and iPad users reach Notification Center in iOS 27 / iPadOS 27 so more of the top edge prioritizes the new Siri AI experience. 9to5Mac says eight developer betas make clear the behavior is shipping this month even as details shifted between early builds — iPadOS 27 beta 1 devoted most of the area above Home Screen icons to Siri, with beta 2 evening left/right zones.
Default Notification Center still works, but the comfortable “swipe the top” habit from the last 15 years now collides with a larger Siri invocation region. It is the biggest notification-gesture rethink since Control Center moved to the top-right on iPhone X. Expect a week of mis-swipes after September’s public release.
