Apple’s first book-style foldable — widely called iPhone Ultra — may not land worldwide with iPhone 18 Pro. MacRumors cites Australia’s ChannelNews, which says local carriers and a major retailer were told the foldable will be a “no show” at the September country launch even if it is unveiled on stage. The plan, those sources say, is United States first, then other key markets over several months.
The same report blames supply setbacks, pricing problems, and testing issues on production units already built. That lines up with earlier Ming-Chi Kuo commentary that Ultra would be announced with the Pros but open pre-orders later. None of this is Apple on the record. It is a carrier-channel leak, so treat dates and “testing issues” as unverified. The shape of the rumor is still useful: a first-gen foldable with a high price and tight yields often ships like a Plus model in 2016 — home market first.
If you live outside the U.S. and want the foldable on day one, do not pre-write your September budget yet. Watch the keynote for the price, then watch the store pages for your country code. A staggered rollout would also keep used-market and import prices messy for the first quarter.
