Acer’s IFA concept Project DualPlay Mini tries to end the “Steam Deck or gaming laptop” fork by building both into one chassis. In handheld mode it looks like a compact Windows game pad with sticks, D-pad, and face buttons around an 8-inch panel; twist and unfold and a keyboard appears so the same device can behave more like a tiny clamshell on a tray table.
Specs are intentionally vague — Intel silicon, dual-fan cooling inspired by Acer’s Predator Atlas line — and Acer is not promising retail. Still, the concept is the purest expression of 2026 handheld anxiety: people want console simplicity and laptop chores without packing two bricks. If any of this geometry ships, travel gaming kits get simpler overnight.
