Andreessen Horowitz raised its growth fund to $8.5 billion, adding about $1.75 billion since a January close near $6.75 billion — and doing it days after launching a separate new $1.1 billion vehicle, TechCrunch reports. GP David George’s note says the growth pool has backed more than 100 companies over seven years as they scale products and geographies.
Target themes span enterprise and consumer AI, defense tech, robotics, infrastructure hard/soft, and health. Context: a16z had already touted roughly $15 billion of fresh dry powder earlier in the year against ~$90 billion AUM. For founders, the message is unchanged — late-stage AI and deep tech still have a very large checkbook attached to Sand Hill branding.
