Google’s 24-Hour Android Sideload Wait Is Reaching Real Devices — and Users Hate It

Android’s new sideload flow is live: reboot, wait 24 hours, then maybe install that APK

Google’s “advanced” sideloading flow is no longer just a policy PDF. Android Authority reports at least one user received the full friction path and posted screenshots: restart the phone, then wait 24 hours before sideloading is allowed, with copy warning that real government or business staff will never ask you to enable sideloading. Google began rolling the flow weeks ago after framing it as malware defense for unknown apps outside official stores.

Power users call it convoluted and punitive; Google calls it a cooling-off brake on social-engineering installs. Either way, the screenshots make the delay concrete — plan APK tests a day ahead if your device is in the cohort.
