Android Authority reports that Google is rolling out an Ask Gemini shortcut directly inside Android’s text-selection menu. When users highlight text in an app, the shortcut can send that selected text into Gemini in one step. That sounds small, but it is a major usability pattern. AI assistants become more useful when they are available exactly where a user is already reading, writing, or comparing text.
Instead of copying, switching apps, pasting, and asking, the action becomes part of Android’s normal context menu. This also shows Google’s strategy: Gemini is not just a standalone chatbot. It is being woven deeper into system-level surfaces.
