Nightdive’s System Shock Remake Is Coming to VR

Strap in, citizen. PC Gamer reports Nightdive’s System Shock remake — the modern rebuild of Looking Glass’s 1994 immersive-sim classic — is getting a VR edition. The pitch writes itself: Citadel Station was always a first-person maze of maintenance shafts, audio logs, and a hostile AI. Putting Shodan in a headset is the most obvious “why didn’t this ship on day one” move the remake still had left.

Nightdive has spent years proving old sims can be rebuilt without turning them into souvenir slideshows. A VR port is still a different beast. Combat, inventory, and those tiny keypad puzzles have to work with motion controllers, and motion sickness in a space-station horror game will end sessions fast. Treat “coming to VR” as a platform announcement, not a review. No public date was in the alert we used; look for Nightdive’s own store page for the SKU and headset list (PC VR first is the safe assumption until they say otherwise).

If you already loved the remake on a monitor, this is the curiosity buy. If you never played System Shock, the flatscreen version is still the right tutorial. Shodan does not need stereoscopy to be mean. She will take it anyway.
